    She was labeled a 'dance craze singer' and couldn't match her early '60s success.
    She was on welfare for most of the '70s and '80s.
    She baby sat for the Gerry Goffin/Carole King songwriting duo.
    'The Loco-Motion' hit #1 on Billboard's singles chart in 1962.
    The song reappeared on the U.K. charts and was a #11 hit for her again in 1972.
    The song was a #1 hit in 1974 for Grand Funk and #3 hit in 1988 for Kylie Minogue.
    She was rediscovered after the Minogue version and got off welfare by performing on oldies circuits until her death.
