Ordained minister in the Christian Church/Disciples of Christ
Led the Jonestown suicide/massacre (November 18, 1978)
Moved his original cult from Indiana to California and finally to Jonestown, Guyana

Why he might be annoying:

He believed the world would end by nuclear war.
When the 900+ cult committed suicide by drinking a cyanide laced grape Kool-Aid solution, those that refused to drink were forced to.
He abused prescription drugs.
He was paranoid.
He was charged with human rights violations.
He had congressman, Leo Ryan, and 4 members of Ryan's staff killed when Ryan came down to Guyana to investigate the cult.
Ryan was preparing to leave with 16 disillusioned members of the cult when they were all gunned down.
In the mass suicide, 638 adults and 276 children died (many were murdered).

Why he might not be annoying:

He set up The People's Temple as an inter-racial mission for the sick, homeless and jobless.
He moved his original cult from Indiana to California and finally to Jonestown, Guyana.
