Why he might be annoying:

He is one of ten children.
The Capitals fired him and replaced him with his younger brother Terry.
He hired Terry to coach the Panthers during his stint as the team's general manager.
His teams are inconsistent during the playoffs.
He looks like Leslie Nielsen.
He is the NHL's best coach (with regard to number of wins) who hasn't won a Stanley Cup.

Why he might not be annoying:

He is the all-time best coach (in terms of number of wins) in Capitals history.
He was the architect of the Red Wings team that would become an NHL powerhouse in the late 1990s.
He was the GM of the Panthers team that made a Stanley Cup Finals appearance in their third season.
He was able to do something that his predecessor Jacques Martin was unable to do, take the Senators to the Stanley Cup Finals (2007).
He took the Senators coaching job to be closer to his family who live in the Ottawa-Gatineau area.
