    He is a pretty boy.
    He is very injury and accident prone.
    During the 2004 Athens Summer Olympics, he had been involved in an accident in the athlete's village where he came off his bike in front of a village bus that left him with scarred arms and legs.
    At a 2007 cycling event in Bolivia, he fell 0.005 seconds short of breaking Arnaud Tournant's record of fastest time in a one kilometer race (58.875 seconds).
    He suffers from chronic anxiety attacks.

    He joined his first amateur cycling league in 1984 at the age of eight after being inspired by the film 'ET: The Extra Terrestrial.'
    He was the flag bearer for Great Britain's delegation at the XXX Summer Olympics (London 2012).
    He surpassed Steve Redgrave's record five gold to become the British Summer Olympian with the most gold medals (as of 2012).
    He was granted a knighthood in 2009 and was appointed as an UNICEF Ambassador that same year.
    He has an amazing sense of humor and has been involved with various charities.
