Why Coupling might be annoying
Husband and wife, writer Steven Moffat and producer Sue Vertue, named the main characters after themselves.
Steve and Susan on the show are much better looking than Steven Moffat and Sue Vertue.
The U.S. version, which was placed in the coveted NBC Must See Thursday line up, was a ratings disaster. It was cancelled after just 4 episodes.
The U.S. version was a remake of the first three British episodes (Americanized), and an original script for the 4th and final episode.
In a likely jab at the failed American version, Steve uses the line 'this is not an American sitcom.'
When Richard Coyle left the role of Jeff, a new character of nervous Oliver was introduced to replace him.
The show has been called a 'Friends' rip off. Both featured six young upper mobile male and females who explore their relationships. They tend to discuss things on a couch at a bar or coffee shop.
Why Coupling might not be annoying
It is a favorite of Team Annoy.
The key difference between the U.S. and British version is the believability and likability of the British cast counterparts.
The humor is adult and does not play down to its audience.
Many jokes are timed, and earlier humorous statements are referenced later in the episode to provoke belly laughs.
