    His eldest son Frank Biya was born to another woman other than his first wife Jeanne-Irène.
    He rules by decree and controls Cameroon's legislation, even though the country is supposed to have a multiparty system.
    He turned Cameroon into one of the world's most corrupt countries.
    His predecessor accused him for abusing his power and for being paranoid about getting assassinated.
    He changed the constitution so that he can run again for president in 2011.
    He spent $40,000 a day on 43 hotel rooms in France (2009).

    The Anglophones (English speakers) who lived in the northern part of Cameroon are increasingly hostile to his presidency.

    He got food poisoning while visiting Equatorial Guinea.
