    She said about conservative talk radio, ‘I don't know why we allow that kind of terrorism to exist. I guess it's about free speech, but it's extremely unfair.’
    At the opening of a Scientology church, she said, ‘Your creed is a universal creed and one that speaks to all people everywhere.’ (2010)
    When Fidel Castro died, she called his passing ‘a great loss to the people of Cuba.’

Why she might not be annoying:

    She worked as a nurse and a physician’s assistant.
    Her daughter Emilia and her son-in-law were killed in a car crash (2006).
    She formed Community Coalition to improve economic and social conditions in South Los Angeles.
    She was the first black woman elected speaker of a state legislature.
    She and three other assembly members were jointly awarded the John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Award for negotiating a bipartisan budget deal to address California’s fiscal crisis (2010).
    Although she called for police reform following the death of George Floyd (2020), she said about ‘Defund the Police,’ ‘That’s probably one of the worst slogans ever.’
