The Resume

    Born in United States
    Police Corporal
Birth name is David Eric Casebolt
    Resides in McKinney, Texas
Police Officer for the local McKinney Police Department (2005-2015)
Instructor at Executive Self-Defense & Fitness Training, based in McKinney
Also worked for the Texas Department of Public Safety as a highway patrol trooper (2003-2005)
Responded to a disturbance at a North Dallas pool party (Jun. 5, 2015)
Placed under investigation and put on administrative leave after footage surfaced of him violating police procedure, specifically regarding firearm usage and use of excessive force
Footage subsequently went viral on YouTube, garnering close to 5 million views within 24 hours
Submitted his resignation from the McKinney Police Department in the wake of the social media backlash (Jun. 8, 2015)

Why he might be annoying:

He had been investigated previously on charges of racial profiling, sexual harassment, and police brutality in 2008.
He deleted all of his social media accounts in the wake of the controversy.
Until that point, though, he was evidently proud enough of his actions to include the video on his YouTube list of 'training videos.'
He was accused of singling out Black, Latino, and Middle Eastern kids for discipline, while virtually ignoring the White kids at the party.
His short, gnome-like build made an otherwise frightening depiction of police brutality unintentionally comical.
His overly dramatic, 'Call of Duty' style maneuvering during the response was widely mocked by comedians.
He bitched about being made to 'run around with 30 pounds of Goddamn gear in the sun' in a profanity laced rant.
His violently forcing an unarmed bikini-clad 14-year old to the ground while yelling for her to 'sit your ass down' pissed off virtually everyone on social media.
He tried to turn his gun on a throng of unarmed teenagers before being restrained by fellow officers.
After the confrontation, he subjected several of the teenagers he detained to a nonsensical, condescending lecture on 'being part of the mob.'
Many on the Right reflexively tried to defend him and ended up with egg on their faces (e.g. Megyn Kelly arguing that the girl he brutalized 'was no saint either').
It was argued that he was justified in his hostility towards her because she was trespassing on private property, but it was later clarified that she had been invited to the party.
The Texas Chapter of the ACLU condemned him, saying 'a well-trained police department would have responded more cautiously, with less hostility, and using sophisticated crowd control methods that favor de-escalation not escalation.'

Why he might not be annoying:

He served in the Navy for ten years (1993-2003).
His attorney argued that he 'allowed his emotions to get the best of him.'
He was named Officer of the Year by the McKinney Police Department in 2008.
He served as the second vice president of his local police union.
Many community members thanked him for taking his job defending his community so seriously.
Some asserted that the reaction to his arrest video, while valid, was overblown and a distraction from more important news stories.
The footage gave an indication of what it would look like if Barney Fife tried to fend off a frantic group of black teenagers while violently wrestling an unarmed girl to the ground.
