Why he might be annoying:

He went by the name 'John' when he made his North American debut before going back to 'Evgeni.'
He did performed up to expectations after signing a four year, $21.5 million contract.
He sat out a good portion of the 2002-03 season as a result of a contract dispute.
He frequently has groin problems.
He was involved in an ongoing saga with the IIHF about his eligibility to play for the Russian National Team in international competition.
He is rather pale-looking.

Why he might not be annoying:

He became the first NHL goaltender to score a power play goal (2002).
He is among the Sharks franchise leaders in the goaltending categories.
He was a 9th round draft pick that made the Sharks roster in training camp.
He was able to play for Russia in international competition after they realized that he played for Kazakhstan when it was part of the U.S.S.R.
