Portrayed Sonia Garcia on The Brothers Garcia (2000-04)

Why she might be annoying:

She tends to get typecast as thick-accented ethnic characters.
Her first line on the syndicated series 'What A Country!' had the teacher Mr. Brown write his name on the blackboard so she could confusedly exclaim 'But I am brown!'
In the five years that she played Hispanic immigrant Gina on Nurses, it was never exactly made what clear what country she was from.
Variety called it 'an unnamed Latin country' (although her family is mentioned as living in the fictional village 'San Pequeno').
She had the bad luck to land the part of Captain Erika Hernandez in the final season of Star Trek: Enterprise (although show runner Manny Coto says he 'would have loved" to have expanded Hernandez's character).

Why she might not be annoying:

She started out acting in regional theater, starring in shows such as 'In a Pig’s Valise' and 'At Long Last Cole' with Carol Burnett.
Her pregnancy was written into the fourth season of 'Nurses.'
She was the first Latina to join the Star Trek franchise.
Erika Hernandez was ranked as the 52nd most important character of Starfleet within the Star Trek science fiction universe by Wired magazine.
She was reunited with 'Nurses' co-star Carlos Lacamara to play the parents on 'The Brothers Garcia' and its subsequent reboot, 'The Garcias.'
She has a special fondness for Brothers Garcia because it was one of the only times she got to play a warm, caring mother figure.
She got Neil Patrick Harris to drop a stereotypical Latina housekeeper from his Netflix show Uncoupled, after she read for it and called the role 'hurtful and derogatory.'
