Why he might be annoying:

There is online confusion as to whether his first appearance was on stage or on film and at what age (it was still grade school).
He spent about a year on the road – and in a different school almost every week – at that point.
His parents separated when he was still that young.
Some of his chosen projects were based on his Irish nationalist beliefs.
He received at least two honorary doctorates.
Following his death, it was revealed that his second wife – whose only child was then more than ten years old – was his mistress.

Why he might not be annoying:

While his father was an Irish mounted police officer, he came honestly by his talent through his chorus-girl mother.
It would be 17 years before his second film appearance, as an IRA member in ‘Guests of the Nation.’
His fluency in the language was helpful in landing him the lead role in the first fully Gaelic language feature (‘Poitin,’ 1978).
In his later years – particularly with regards to abortion – he became a crusader for conservative causes in the homeland.
While he would eventually be widowed, his first marriage – which bore him five children – lasted three decades.
