Ethnically/linguistically Czech country in eastern Europe
First brought to attention in historical record in Second Century AD
Evangelized by Catholic saints, Cyril and Methodius in the early 9th Century AD
Birthplace of Ivanna Trump, Oskar Schindler, Ivan Lendl, and Emil Zatopek
It's history is very violent. It's first appearance in recorded history was about its wars with the Roman Empire.
As an actual independent country, it only existed for barely a hundred years in the 8th and 9th Centuries and has been in order; part of the Roman Empire, The Carolingian Empire, Holy Roman Empire, The Austro-Hungarian Empire, unions with Bohemia and Silesia, Czechoslovakia, and presently the Czech Republic.
There is minimal sense of nationality or patriotism among its people who simply consider themselves Czech.
It no longer exists in any meaningful sense being divided into various administrative districts decades ago.
It is in the geographical dead center of eastern Europe.
It is very geographically distinct, surrounded by mountains on two sides and a river on the third.
It has a spectacular history as a center of the arts and learning. The oldest known ceramic figurine, Venus of Dolmi dating back over 25,000 years was found there and scientists such as Sigmund Freud, Gregor Mendel, and Kurt Godel were from there.
It is a tremendous center of manufacturing including; oil, machine work, and arms manufacturing and provides over a fourth of Germany's and over half of Greece's energy.
Its people were brutally oppressed by the Communists and Nazis.
They make a lot of great wine there.
