Inventor
    (September 3, 1944- )
    Created Beanie Babies
Also created Pinkys, Beanie Kids, Attic Treasures, Beanie Boppers, Baby Ty, Beanie Buddies, Punkies, Pluffies, Basket Beanies, Ty Classics (et al)
The 'H' (without a period) stands for absolutely nothing (just some self-serving secret).
His parents named him after one of the dirtiest and most bigoted players in baseball, Ty Cobb.
His mother preferred to call him Tyrone.
He dropped out of college and moved to California, hoping to become a movie star. After selling cameras door-to-door and pumping gas for a few years, he realized it wasn't going to happen, tucked tail, and moved back to Chicago.
Being reclusive, he has been compared to Howard Hughes (without the long toenails).
He is a ruthless copyright protector with a team of lawyers that will hunt down anyone who comes close to infringing on his product and slap a lawsuit on them without a moment's hesitation.
He looks like a poor imitation of Kevin Kline.
The beanie 'frenzy' has been over for years, he has enough money to live very comfortably for the rest of his life, and yet he still continues to churn out 'pellet-filled profit playthings.'
He grew up in a house designed by Frank Lloyd Wright.
Before beanies, he took some plush Himalayan Cats he created to an Atlanta Toy Fair. In a sure sign of things to come, he successfully sold 30,000 of them within one hour.
He took an idea that professional toymakers scoffed at, calling beanies 'road kill,' ran with it, and became a self-made billionaire.
His Ty Inc. is now worth more than toy giants Hasbro and Mattel combined.
He has donated millions of dollars to charity, such as the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fund, the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation and the 9/11 New York City Police & Fire Widows' & Children's Fund.
He built a 36 acre park for families in a suburban Chicago community.
He has provided a product that has brought happiness to millions of kids (and money for savvy adults who became secondhand market entrepreneurs).
