    Pieces include ‘TV Cello’ (1964), ‘TV Bra for Living Sculpture’ (1969), ‘Good Morning, Mr. Orwell’ (1984), ‘Something Pacific’ (1986), ‘Electronic Superhighway: Continental U.S., Alaska, Hawaii’ (1995) and ‘Tiger Is Alive’ (2000)

Why he might be annoying:

    He was Yoko Ono’s roommate.
    The instructions to one of his ‘Playable Pieces’ call for the performer to ‘climb inside the vagina of a live female whale.’
    A German critic called him ‘the world’s most famous bad pianist.’
    He never learned to drive a car.
    Many of his video installations ran on now-obsolete equipment, creating an unusual challenge for art conservators.
    He said, ‘Art is just fraud. You just have to do something nobody else has done before.’

Why he might not be annoying:

    He and his family had to flee their home during the Korean War.
    He provided graphics for David Bowie’s ‘Wrap Around the World’ concert (1988).
    He remained active creatively despite a stroke that paralyzed his left side (1996).
    He was named one of the most influential artists of the 20th century by ARTnews.
