    Secretary of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania (1971-1977)
    Founder of the National Congress of Black Women (1984)
    Founding member of the National Women's Political Caucus
    She married William Tucker at 19.
    She was fired from Secretary of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania due to allegations that she used state employees to write political speeches for which she was paid.
    She ran for Lieutenant Governor, a Congressional seat, and the United States Senate, both lost each time.
    She was outspoken in her opposition to gangsta rap and its lyrics, and was arrested many times for picketing stores that sold the explicit music.
    She targeted Time Warner, bought shares of stock in the company, and appeared at stockholders' meetings to deliver speeches against their involvement with the purveyors of gangsta rap, particularly Death Row Records.
    While most gangsta rap protesters were white, she was black.
    Her outrage towards gangsta rap's lyrics started when a niece she was raising was ostracized for using offensive language found in one of the songs.
    She had some of the biggest political achievements for African-American women.
    She stayed married to William Tucker until her death.
    Tupac Shakur fought back over the Time Warner incident by rhyming about her with an obscenity in one of his songs.
    She challenged Suge Knight and the estate of Tupac in court.
    She was genuinely concerned about gangsta rap and its impact on young black children.
