Personal Assistant

The Resume

Staffers with the New England Patriots
James 'Jim' McNally, head locker-room attendant (2008- ), also a daytime beer distributor & part-time employee of The Kraft Group
Nicknamed 'The Bird,' Resides in Amherst, New Hampshire
John Jastremski, equipment assistant, tasked with conditioning game balls provided to the team each season
Nicknamed 'Dorito Dink,' Resides in Franklin, Massachusetts
At the center of the heavily debated sports controversy known as 'Deflategate' (#deflategate), involving allegations, against the New England Patriots, of tampering with footballs, specifically against the Indianapolis Colts during the AFC Championship game, on January 18, 2015
Figured prominently into the NFL's controversial Wells Report, which specifically highlighted the communications and actions of the two locker-room attendants
Communications via text messages made public led to the conclusion that it was 'more probable than not' that the two deliberately released air from Patriot game balls after they were tested by game officials
Jokes about inflation, deflation, needles, gifts from Tom Brady to McNally, and most famously McNally's identifying himself as 'the deflator,' in the messages, served as circumstantial evidence implicating Tom Brady in the cheating scandal (who 'more probable than note' was 'generally aware' of their actions, the Report concluded)
Suspended indefinitely by League officials, later officially reinstated after Judge Richard Berman ruled against the NFL's disciplinary actions (May 6, 2015; Sept. 16, 2015)

Why they might be annoying:

They share names with a retired New York Giants/Buffalo Bills coach and a Syracuse-based sports radio host respectively.
Time Magazine joked about them using their phones 'more than a teenage girl in detention.'
They, or at least McNally, were fond of making jokes about male genitals, in relation to footballs.
They reportedly attempted to give an unapproved ball to officials who were presiding over the special teams’ footballs in the AFC Championship Game.
When the official Greg Yette noticed that the football McNally gave him didn’t have the proper marking on it, he notified the NFL’s Game Operations VP, Mike Kensil.
The tip prompted Kensil, who was at the game, to go down to the officials’ locker room at halftime to check the game balls himself (which was later documented in the Wells Report).
McNally was reportedly caught on camera, in late January of 2015, bringing a bag of footballs into a bathroom for 90 seconds before bringing them out to the field just before the AFC game (he was later identified by Fox Sports’ Jay Glazer).
They may have received gifts ranging from Celtics tickets to shoes to autographed merchandise, judging by their text messages (although they claimed the texts showing their demands of Brady were made only in jest).
They were caught mocking Tom Brady behind his back in the joint text messages (including one specifically reading 'F__k Tom'; another one reading making the 'next ball' 'a f__ing balloon').
Patriots council refused to make either of them available when news outlets tried to follow up on the Wells Report's findings (to at least provide better context to their messages).
They are responsible for perhaps the most pointless, obsessively and unnecessarily-covered, innuendo driven media fiascos, in or out of sports media - one which even 2016 Presidential candidates sticking their nose into the fray (at least John Wayne Bobbitt sustained bodily harm...)

Why they might not be annoying:

McNally worked at Gillette Stadium for Patriots games for a decade.
They come off as good pals, at least judging by their private correspondences.
Some of their jokes at the expense of Brady or their job are actually funny, bordering on hilarious.
They were likely only following instructions, either from Brady or someone affiliated with him.
Patriots talking heads tried to explain away his nickname of 'the deflator' by saying that it was because of his desire to 'lose weight' (classy).
It remains unclear as to who specifically threw them under the bus by ordering their suspension (both Roger Goodell and Robert Kraft denied originating the idea).
They never received autographed pairs of Uggs, from Brady, during the holiday season (tough to be a professional sports flunky these days...)
They were thrust into the public spotlight to be defined by several out-of-context phone messages that they didn't expect to be shared.
If a 'Deflategate movie ever goes into production, Ben Affleck and Matt Damon will probably be cast to play them (they both claimed to be 'the locker room guy' on Jimmy Kimmel Live).
