Why The Voice might be annoying
It is another American Idol knockoff!
It was originally intended to be titled 'The Voice of America.'
Aguilera probably signed on to host because of her 'Star Spangled Banner' Super Bowl flub and the failure of her movie 'Burlesque.'
Viewers sat through many amateurish performances.
This US version of the Danish talent was created by 'Survivor' and 'The Apprentice' creator Mark Burnett.
Like most television talent shows, the show is prone to ballot stuffing.
Why The Voice might not be annoying
Unlike 'Idol,' the first round was a 'blind audition' where the four judges had their backs to the contestants and focused solely on their singing voices.
If the contestant received more than one vote from the judges, he or she could choose which judge's team to join.
In its debut, the show performed well against 'Dancing With the Stars' and 'Glee.'
Rolling Stone's Mallika Rao said of the show's premiere episode, 'Could this concept be the best Dutch import since tulips and Eddie Van Halen?'
'Entertainment Weekly' also gave the series positive reviews.
