Why he might be annoying:

    He said he was so desperate for fame as a teen that he sent shirtless photos of himself to music biz managers.
    He dyed his hair blonde in his Take That days.
    His British success never translated to the US.
    After disappointing sales of his second solo album, he withdrew from performing for five years to concentrate on writing songs for other artists.
    He was ordered to pay £20 million in taxes after a judge ruled that one of his investments was actually an ‘aggressive’ tax avoidance scheme (2016).

Why he might not be annoying:

    He was the main songwriter in Take That.
    He was named greatest British songwriter of all time in a 2009 survey by One Poll, edging out John Lennon and Paul McCartney (who finished at #2 and #3, respectively).
    He teamed with Andrew Lloyd Webber to write ‘Sing,’ the official anthem for Queen Elizabeth’s Diamond Jubilee, and also organized the Diamond Jubilee Concert outside Buckingham Palace (2012).
    He hosted a series of all-star concerts to raise money for Children in Need.
    He organized a nine-celebrity climb of Mount Kilimanjaro to raise funds for Comic Relief (2009).
