    (1533-March 15, 1554)
Countess of the House of Waldeck
Daughter of Philip IV, Count of Waldeck-Wildungen
Stepdaughter to Lady Katharina von Hatzfeld (1510–1546)
Allegedly poisoned at the age of 21
Inspiration for the 'Snow White' fairy tale
She was estranged from her stepmother.
Her father used her for a political pawn.
Her father owned a coal mine which relied on child labor.
The prevailing belief that her stepmother ordered her dead really doesn't pan out (reason: stepmom was dead at the time).
She was famous for her beauty.
She was shrewd and wasn't a princess.
Philip II of Spain was smitten with her.
She was likely poisoned by nobles who did not want her to marry into royalty on religious grounds (she was a Lutheran).
Unlike in the popular legend, however, her death was a slow one and she didn't actually die for over a year.
Her death became the inspiration for one of the most popular fairy tales of all time.
