Although a conservative Republican, he is liberal about homosexuality (because he is gay himself).
He calls himself a 'South Park Republican.'
After he criticized promiscuity, it was revealed he placed online ads looking for 'bareback' (unprotected) sex.
He did this despite being HIV-positive.
He is regarded as a hypocrite by many on both sides of the gay issue.

Why he might not be annoying:

His political blog is one of the most popular on the internet.
He always speaks his mind, no matter who it's going to piss off.
His writing is enjoyed by many conservatives and liberals alike.
He has degrees from Oxford and Harvard.
He claims his sex ads weren't harmful, because they clearly stated he was HIV-positive.
