He tried to crackdown on Islamic extremists.
He is pretty genial, as dictators go.
He has spoken out against pop bands, saying ‘I find them very stupid and silly.’
He likes to go canoeing and play golf.
He had two Pekinese dogs named Dot and Buddy.
Sometimes he wore a peppy beret.
