Why The Wendy Williams Show might be annoying:

    Damn wigs....
It is a takeoff of Wendy's radio show, spreading bawdy celebrity gossip complete with appearance-based disses.
It first aired in the wake of legal accusations that Williams' husband had hired a hit-man to 'rub out' one of her radio rivals.
Wendy Williams was accused of softening her edgy radio persona to 'play well on television' and appeal to the mainstream.
She was also accused of having guests on the show and then going on her radio show to talk smack about them behind their backs.
It has featured Perez Hilton, Anderson Cooper, Don Lemon and celebrity wannabe Nicolle Wallace as semi-regular guests at different times.
It was used to heavily plug Lifetime's god awful (and universally panned) Aaliyah TV biopic.
Williams incidentally came on board with the movie as a co-producer when Lifetime execs saw an episode of her talking about 'how to do the Aaliyah movie right'....
'Skinny Girl' Bethenny Frankel was another semi-regular between 2009-2013, which may have led to the spinoff of her own ill-fated talk show on the same network.
Its host has a knack for veering off into unrelated monologues about herself (e.g. turning a Whitney Houston eulogy into an account of her history of drug abuse).
We all remember the explosive Omarosa interview gone viral, in which, among other things, Williams called Omarosa 'the stereotypical angry black woman' before being hit over the poor quality of her wigs & plastic surgery (Jul. 22, 2008).
Williams insisted that she would never have her on the show again after the infamous segment, calling her 'a delusional, D-list, pathetic woman' but proceeded to have her on twice more anyway.
A video of Williams randomly bursting into tears claiming that 'my son doesn't like me anymore,' in the middle of a segment about Madonna's use of the N-word, went viral on YouTube, as did the audience bursting into applause yelling 'we love you Wendy!' (Jan. 21, 2014).

Why The Wendy Williams Show might not be annoying:

It was the first Wendy TV pilot project to actually gain traction.
Its glitzy, gossipy format is highly entertaining and is categorized as a 'guilty pleasure' by many.
Some of Williams' relationship/career advice can actually be pretty sage and sensible.
It was nominated for a Daytime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Talk Show/Entertainment and Entertainment Talk Show Host.
Ironically, the explosive Omarosa interview during syndication resulted in a spike in ratings and arguably saved the show from cancellation.
The host is a good sport about the number of 'transvestite rumor jokes' that tend to leak onto the show.
It is a cross between The Steve Harvey Show and The View (celebrity daytime gossip mixed with serious news and relationship advice).
It went on the road for a 17-city promotional tour across the United States presenting mini versions of the show at local malls in 2011.
It was successful enough for Wendy to leave her top-rated radio show several years in, to focus on the show full time.
Williams announced on the show that she was becoming an ordained minister with the Universal One Church and that she was donating items from her talk show to the Smithsonian's collection (April 11, 2013).
After losing a bet over Kim Kardashian and Kanye West's marriage lasting over 72 days, Williams had a chef fix her a plat of crow to literally eat in front of the audience, to keep her word (Sept. 15, 2014).
