Sports Executive
    (June 1, 1965- )
    Born in Chicago, Illinois
General manager of the Phoenix Suns (1995-2006) and the Toronto Raptors (2006-2013)
NBA Executive of the Year (2005, 2007)
He got into the NBA through nepotism as his father, Jerry, was the Suns owner.
Despite the hype of his work with the Suns, his tenure with the Raptors was a disappointment in contrast.
In his first draft as the Raptors GM, he passed on future stars like LaMarcus Aldridge and Rajon Rondo and wasted his first overall selection on Andrea Bargnani.
Some basketball pundits questioned his cap management skills as he overpaid unproven players and refused to trade Chris Bosh in order to get something of value in return.
He made some critical comments that drew the ire of the NBA when he admitted in an interview that he deliberately attempted to tank the Raptors 2011-12 season in order to get a high lottery pick (February 28, 2014).
He drafted players like Steve Nash, Amare Stoudemire and Shawn Marion during his tenure with the Suns.
He was instrumental in the Suns resurgence in the mid 2000's, after reacquiring Steve Nash after trading the latter five years earlier.
He made NBA Draft history after he made Bargnani the first European born and trained player drafted with the first overall pick.
In his first year as Raptors general manager, he built a team that won the franchise's first Atlantic Division title (2007).
While with the Raptors, he was successful in taking advantage of Toronto's diverse background by convincing many players of different nationalities to sign with the team.
