    He convinced congress to give the NFL exemption from the antitrust act (1962).

    He convinced the NFL to arbitrate a league television deal rather that an individual team by team deal.
    He tripled NFL broadcast rights to $14 million (1962).
    He was the commissioner of the first Super Bowl (1967).
    He created Monday Night Football with ABC (1970).
    He negotiated with the NFL a $2.1 billion TV contract (1987).
    He brought incredible value to the NFL.
    In his first year as commissioner, two teams were sold for $1 million each.
    In 1997 a new franchise entry was auctioned at $530 million.
    He merged the AFL into the NFL.
