    Born in Boise, Idaho
    Full name Frank Forrester Church III
    U.S. Senator who rose to fame in the seventies holding hearings on CIA activities
    While holding Senate hearings investigating illegal CIA activities, he exposed the names of many undercover CIA agents, leading to the murder of at least one agent.
    He called opposing the war in Vietnam 'The highest form of patriotism,' but refused to criticize the communist takeovers and genocide in Vietnam and Cambodia that followed the American withdrawal.
    He voted to give the American-built Panama Canal to Panama.
    He was laughed out of the 1976 Democratic presidential primary when he posed in a Boy Scout uniform during a photo op.
    At age 32 he was the fifth youngest ever U.S. senator.
    He served three terms in the U.S. Senate, becoming the only Democratic Senator from Idaho to ever win re-election.
    He supported the civil rights movement.
    He opposed gun control.
    He had an excellent voting record on environmental issues.
    He suffered at different times from testicular and pancreatic cancer, dying from the latter.
