    (95 BC-46 BC)
    Born in Rome, Italy
Real name: Marcus Porcinus Cato Uticensis
    Roman politician and stoic philosopher
    Great-grandson of Cato the Elder
He was extraordinarily hard-headed as a child, and at age fourteen, offered to kill Roman dictator Sulla.
He divorced his first wife for unseemly public behavior.
He divorced his second wife (and mother of his children) and had her marry his best friend for political reasons. After his friend died, he took her back.
He could be a real prig.
He could be just as devious and ruthless as any other politician when he needed to be.
He screwed up his first attempt at suicide by stabbing himself in the stomach when he missed all the vital organs and finished himself off by pulling his guts out. Ouch!!!
    He was literally completely fearless.
He was a very private person who tried to live cheaply and simply according to his Stoic ideals.
His personal honesty in a time and place of widespread (and expected) corruption was literally legendary.
Both his parents died when he was very young and the uncle who then adopted him was murdered when he was four.
He opposed the First Triumvirate of Julius Caesar, Pompey and Marcus Crassus and their attempt to establish a dictatorship.
Although not a soldier by trade, he successfully commanded a legion in Greece being much loved by his troops and successfully defended the port of Dyrrhachium from an attack by Caesar.
After his side's defeat in the Roman Civil War, he committed suicide rather than face public humiliation and death at the hands of his enemies.
He has been held up as an example of a true public servant and hero since his death.
