    Born in Shelby, North Carolina
    Drafted first overall by the Atlanta Hawks in the 1975 NBA Draft and by the Virginia Squires in the 1975 ABA Draft
    Played for the Denver Nuggets (1975-82) and the Seattle SuperSonics (1982-84)
    Most Valuable Player for the ABA All-Star Game (1976) and the NBA All-Star Game (1979)

Why he might be annoying:

    Despite being drafted first overall by the Hawks, he refused to sign with the team.
    His nickname during his playing career was 'Skywalker.'
    He defied the NCAA rules by making a slam dunk in his final college game.
    He entered a downward spiral of drug and alcohol abuse after he injured his foot, which caused him to miss the final 36 games of the 1979-80 season.
    He suffered a career ending knee injury, after he was shoved down the stairs at Studio 54.
    He was addicted to cocaine in the later stages of his career, and was rumored to have spent $1000 a day to feed his habit.
    He spent 180 days in jail, after being arrested for assaulting his wife (1987).
    He, and Norm Nixon suffered serious knee injuries during the Legends Game at the NBA All-Star Weekend, which forced the league to cancel the event altogether (1993).

Why he might not be annoying:

    He was the first player in the history of the NC State men's basketball program to have his jersey number retired.
    He was a member of the NC State team that won the NCAA championship, earning Tournament MVP honors (1974).
    He was the only player in basketball history to be drafted first overall on both the NBA and ABA drafts.
    He remained with the Nuggets when the team was accepted into the NBA as part of the merger.
    He had his number 33 retired by the Nuggets.
    He is amongst a handful of players in NBA history to record 70+ points in a single game.
    He turned his life around and would later become a motivational speaker in the years following his arrest and stint in rehab.
