Mascot

The Resume

    (1976- )
    Born in Hartford, Connecticut
Mascot for the Hartford Whalers (1975-97)
Designed by Whaler Sports & Entertainment
Revived in 2010 by the American Hockey League's Hartford Wolf Pack as part of their franchise rebranding to the Connecticut Whale

Why Pucky the Whale might be annoying:

It had its name changed from 'Puckie' to 'Pucky' for unknown reasons.
It initially was a shoulder patch for the uniforms that had a name.
The antrophomorphic mascot didn't make its debut until 2010.
Many Whaler fans are oblivious to his origins.
It doesn't look intimidating enough to be a mascot.
Its physical mascot lasted three seasons, as the Whale franchise reverted to the Wolf Pack nickname.

Why Pucky the Whale might not be annoying:

It was created to give the Whalers franchise an identity.
The antrophomorphic mascot was created as a way to help preserve the Whaler brand.
It tours around the State of Connecticut as part of charity events, regardless if it pertains to the Whalers alumni or not.
It has a strong following amongst hockey fans, despite the fact the Whalers relocated to Raleigh, North Carolina in 1997 and the AHL's Whale franchise nickname ceased in 2013.
It was invited to Raleigh and took part in the Carolina Hurricanes 'Whalers night' promotion, alongside its successor Stormy the Hog.
