Why he might be annoying:

He was divorced twice, then married his secretary who was half his age.
His third wife filed for divorce (later withdrawn), claiming he hit her in the face and threatened her with a butcher's knife.
He left his wife and children to set up house with Marilyn Monroe.
He feuded with Monroe's friend/acting coach, Natasha Lytess, who felt he was pushing her into glamor roles and stopping her from becoming a serious actress.
After he suffered a heart attack, he ignored doctor's orders to slow down, eventually becoming so weak he had to be carried upstairs by his chauffeur.

Why he might not be annoying:

A movie producer said, 'When you had Johnny in your corner, you had a pipeline to the guys who really control Hollywood.'
One of Monroe's biographers wrote, 'One man was responsible for making her a star. That man was Johnny Hyde.'
He landed Monroe her breakthrough roles in 'The Asphalt Jungle' and 'All About Eve.'
He proposed repeatedly to Monroe, who turned him down, explaining that while she was fond of him, she was not in love.
Monroe said, 'Johnny gave me more than kindness and love. He was the first man I have ever known who understood me.'
