    Born in Star Junction, Pennsylvania
Coached the University of St. Paul (1946-47), Minnesota Lakers (1947-59) and University of Minnesota (1959-68)

Why he might be annoying:

He was reluctant to coach professionally until the Lakers offered a salary of $6,000 a year, double what he was earning at St. Paul.
He quit coaching the Lakers rather than move with the team to L.A.
Even at the peak of the Lakers’ success, he was so overshadowed by his players that the Sporting News commented, ‘Few have heard of John Kundla.’
The Basketball Hall of Fame did not get around to inducting him until after a USA Today columnist complained about his absence.

Why he might not be annoying:

While playing basketball for the University of Minnesota, the New York Times called him ‘one of the finest players in the Midwest.’ (1937)
He served in the US Navy during World War II.
He received hate mail after he integrated the University of Minnesota basketball team.
He was named one of the league’s ten greatest coaches during the ‘NBA at 50’ celebrations (1996).
He was married to his wife, Marie, for 67 years.
