    Wrote 'Mind, Self and Society from the Standpoint of a Social Behaviorist,' 'Essays in Social Psychology' and 'The Individual and the Social Self'

Why he might be annoying:

    After only four months of working as a grade school teacher, he was fired for not disciplining students (if a student acted out, he'd simply send them home).
    He never finished his Ph.D.
    He was a pragmatist.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He was skeptical about supernatural claims.
    While working on an M.A. in philosophy, he also studied psychology, Greek, Latin, German, and French.
    He was good friends with John Dewey, and when Dewey was asked to go to the University of Chicago, he agreed on the condition that they also hire Mead.
    He loved his wife very much, and died shortly after she did.
