Model

The Resume

    (June 18, 1986- )
    Born in Miami, Florida
    Discovered in Clinton, Mississippi (2000)
    5 foot, 9 inches
    Plus-sized model (38C-30-42)
Wrote the book 'Hungry' (2009) - dealing with the problems she faced battling anorexia
First ever plus-size model to appear on the cover of Harper's Bazaar magazine
Appeared alongside Penelope Cruz for the Estee Lauder Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign
Interviewed about her anorexia struggles on 'The Today Show,' 'The View' and 'The Oprah Winfrey Show'

Why she might be annoying:

She began her modeling career at age 14, AFTER she was told to lose 10 inches off her hips (and did so).
Who the heck gets discovered as a model out of Clinton, Mississippi?
She describes the town as such: 'You get married at 17, have children, go to church, get a job. People don't even have passports because nowhere outside the town exists.'
Once she moved to Brooklyn, her anorexia got worse (a meal would consist of 'a salad with nothing on it and a stick of sugar fee gum'), yet job offers continued to shrink.
Rather than seek medical help, she just started eating more on her own.
    She bites her fingernails.
She married the only man she ever had sex with in 2007, and divorced him less than two years later.
A 2010 photo shoot with famed photographer Nicholas Routzen caused a stir when the pictures were touched up to make her look skinnier (something she had no control over).

Why she might not be annoying:

Her mother abandoned her at three months of age, and she lived with her grandmother until age seven (she has no idea who her father is).
When her grandmother died, she was sent to live with her great-grandmother in Mississippi.
Talent scouts, agents and the modeling industry itself wreaked havoc on her inner psyche, and exacerbated her anorexia.
Once she became a plus-sized model, job offers increased in frequency.
Though she's made a few enemies in the fashion industry over some comments in her book and as an outspoken advocate against models starving themselves to death, other industry insiders praise her straightforwardness.
Some anorexics, after reading her book, have written to her stating her struggle has given them the courage to seek help and stop the deadly cycle.
She dreams of a world where there is no ultra-thin, standard sized or full figured models, stating, 'It's bullshit. Just say model.'
She's done some photo shoots topless.
