Why Family Matters might be annoying:

    Three words: Steven Quincy Urkel!
The sitcom was originally focused on the Winslow family (hence the show's name), but once Urkel became a hit, it was more focused on that character's clumsy antics.
The show was redundant, too. Many episodes had Carl refusing to let Urkel help him with something or see his latest invention, yet Urkel went ahead anyway. That caused something to be destroyed, followed by Urkel saying: 'Did I do that?'
Urkel was a little too obsessed with Laura, which may encourage stalking (not good for a family show).
It was made by the same people who did Full House, explaining why there's the same degree of hokeyness.
After the fourth season, Judy somehow disappeared from the show. It was neither explained nor mentioned.
It jumped the shark the last few seasons, as it relied on unrealistic storylines.
Most of them involved Urkel jumping into this transformation chamber, and changing into a hot stud, Bruce Lee, or Elvis.
Payton-Noble grew tired of the direction of the show and left, meaning a different actress played Harriette the final season.
It pulled a Johnny Unitas and moved to another network when it was in danger of being cancelled.
Urkel's signature laugh and snort got many children in trouble for imitating it.

Why Family Matters might not be annoying:

    It was set in Chicago.
It was a spin-off of Perfect Strangers.
    It lasted for nine seasons.
    It was good wholesome fun.
It was one of the few successful sitcoms that featured a black middle-class family.
It tackled serious topics such as racism, sex, drugs, gambling, and stealing.
Urkel was an inspiration to nerds everywhere.
