    Head Coach for the New Orleans Saints (1970-1972)
    Inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame (1993)
    He has the same initials as TV journalist John D. Roberts.
    He had a 6 game losing streak following his first win during the 1970 NFL season.
    He was not a very successful head coach as his overall career record was 7-25-3.
    He was fired during the 1973 NFL preseason.
    He had an excellent college playing career as an offensive guard at the University of Oklahoma.
    He was a U.S. Marine.
    He won his first game against the Detroit Lions 19-17 as he saw Tom Dempsey kicked a field goal at 63 yards.
    He was Archie Manning's first coach in the NFL.
