    They went on a 12 year hiatus, before reuniting.
    They have a ridiculous band name.
    They were exposed to mainstream music fans through an episode of 'Beavis and Butthead.'
    Their debut single 'Wrong' was released through the first issue of Stay Free! magazine.
    They turned down a lucrative record deal from Maverick Records.

Why Archers of Loaf might not be annoying:

    Their songs were featured on the soundtracks for noteworthy media works such as 'Archer,' 'Mallrats' and 'The Boys Club.'
    Their posters were seen in the movies 'Hackers' and 'Road Trip.'
    They went on hiatus, after their drummer, Mark Price underwent surgery for carpal tunnel syndrome.
    They said their decision to decline the Maverick offer was largely in part to being under contract with Alias Records, and they won't willing to risk going into debt to switch labels.
    Their first opening act as a mainstream group was when they toured with Weezer in the mid 1990's.
