Why he might be annoying:

He ran away from home several times.
He said he was miserable growing up because 'I was big and fat and had weird parents.'
He said about fans of the cult film 'Whitnail and I,' 'They quote stuff and expect me to know it. I find that very odd.'
He would hold up filming to finish delivering one of his rambling anecdotes.
When the father of a Harry Potter fan asked him to say hello to his son on his cellphone, Griffiths responded, 'Get a grip' and refused.

Why he might not be annoying:

Both his parents were deaf and he learned sign language before he learned to talk.
His obesity was caused by the treatment for a pituitary problem that had previously kept him dangerously underweight.
He was surprisingly nimble for a man of his size.
He won the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actor for the British run of 'The History Boys,' then won the Tony when the play hit Broadway.
Daniel Radcliffe said, 'Any room he walked into was made twice as funny and twice as clever just by his presence.'
On three occasions, he halted a play to order that an audience member whose cell phone kept ringing be removed from the theater. Each time, the ejection was greeted with applause from the rest of the audience.
