U.S. Senator

The Resume

    (September 18, 1954- )
    Born in Camden, Arkansas
Birth name is Thomas Hawley Tuberville
Coached teams for the University of Mississippi (1995-98), Auburn University (1999-2008), Texas Tech University (2010-12), and the University of Cincinnati (2013-16)
    Record: 159 – 99
Won the Republican nomination for Senate in Alabama (2020)

Why he might be annoying:

He had a brief stint as co-owner of a hedge fund which ended poorly.
He only lived in Alabama for two years before running for the Senate (carpetbagger).
He only handed down a one-game suspension to a player who was charged with the second-degree rape of a 15-year-old girl (1999).

Why he might not be annoying:

His father was a decorated WWII veteran and Purple Heart recipient.
He led Auburn to six straight victories over University of Alabama (as of 2020, he is the only Auburn coach to do so).
At his pinnacle, in 2004, his team went undefeated, although they still weren't chosen to go to the national championship game.
The snub was so controversial that it eventually led to the creation of a playoff system.
His win over Jeff Sessions in the runoff election, while not a huge surprise given the President's endorsement, was a landslide - surpassing expectations.
