    (June 23, 1943- )
    Born in New Haven, Connecticut
    Full name: Vinton Gray Cerf
Know as the 'Father of the Internet'
BS from Stanford and MS and PhD from UCLA, all in Mathematics
Received Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2005 and Turing Award in 2004
Author of 'The Internet is for Everyone'
Chairman of the Board for ICANN, Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers
When Al Gore made the ludicrous claim of 'creating the internet' he (Cerf) tried to give him cover, noting that he (Gore) had read a lot about technology.
He's a VP at Google and its 'Internet Evangelist,' whatever that is.
He certainly has a high opinion of himself.
He expresses little concern over the government's increasing attempts to control the internet and even supports it in some instances.
He had a 'CERFS UP' personalized license plate.
What kind of parent gives their child a name like 'Vinton Gray Cerf'?
A huge part of internet protocols and procedures are his work.
He engineered MCI Mail, the first commercial email back in the mid-eighties.
His resume is amazing with stints at DARPA, MCI, Google, and NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory among others.
Hard of hearing himself, he serves on the board at Gallaudet University, a college dedicated primarily to serving the deaf.
He favors consumers having a wide variety of broadband choices.
He will go down in history as one of the most influential (in a positive way) people who have ever lived.
When appearing in public, he is always impeccably groomed and dressed.
