    Made headlines when O'Hare International Airport police forcibly removed him from United Express Flight 3411 after he refused to give up his seat (April 9, 2017)
    He was sentenced to five years probation for six felony counts for obtaining drugs illegally. (2005)
    He was also convicted for writing checks and prescriptions to a male patient in exchange for sexual favors.
    He surrendered his license that same year and the state lifted the ban ten years later.
    The airplane incident happened two weeks after two girls were banned from another United flight for wearing leggings.
    Despite the enormous publicity the incident received, the details on the financial settlement between him and United Airlines remain confidential.
    He was 69 at the time of the attack.
    Fellow passengers recorded the incident, sharing on social media.
    His injuries included two broken front teeth, a broken nose and a concussion.
    He immigrated from Vietnam in 1975.
    He is an accomplished musician specializing in classic Vietnamese string instruments and has also attended culinary school.
    He is also a professional poker player.
    His refusal to give up his seat stemmed from the reason he had patients to see the next morning.
    His wife is also a doctor, works in pediatric medicine.
    His grown daughter spoke for him to the media.
    Under intense fire for his treatment, United Airlines was quick to settle the case out of court.
    The story brought attention to the issue of airlines overbooking flights and how airlines could better handle extra passengers.
