He shared his name with an R&B singer.
He was the NL leader for getting hit by 11 pitches (1985).
After the Giants traded him to the Padres, the Giants went to the playoffs as they won the NL West title while the Padres ended up in last place (1987).
He was injury prone in the later years of his career.
During his time in Detroit, he missed a game due to an eye infection.
He suffered from burns after he caught on fire from a burning vacant house (November 2006); the fire led to his death in a hospital nearly a month later (December 2006).
Why he might not be annoying
He was a baseball teammate with Darryl Strawberry in high school.
His batting average at nearly .350 helped him to become a member of the 1986 NL All-Star Team.
After he was done with baseball, he did truck jobs in Iraq.
