After his hands were amputated he stopped playing bass for a few years.
He smokes, drinks, and experiments with drugs.

He was the first survivor of bacterial meningitis.
His high school announced he was dead after he was sent to New Zealand for treatment.
His hands and legs were amputated but he still plays bass.
He and band member Eric 'Gonz' Gonzales have been playing together since High School.
He had a rare form of heart surgery after being seriously ill (2004).
Even after his surgery, he still played with his band.
His band was named SF Weekly's best punk band in San Fransisco in 2002.
In an interview he said: 'I don't feel disabled because I'm totally able.'
He was referenced in a NOFX song.
