He started singing professionally as a boy soprano.
He was divorced from Alice Faye.
During World War II, he was accused of getting an officer's commission through bribery, prompting him to leave the Navy for the Army.
During a Friar's Club roast (1958), comedian Harry Parke collapsed onto Milton Berle, who urged Martin to sing something to distract the audience. His unfortunate choice of song was 'There's No Tomorrow,' which proved true for Parke, who died of a heart attack.
He won a Bronze Star for his Army service in WWII.
His second marriage, to Cyd Charisse, lasted 60 years until her death.
His biggest hit, 'There's No Tomorrow,' inspired Elvis' biggest hit, 'It's Now or Never,' with both songs being adapted from 'O Solo Mio.'
He has four stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame: one each for recordings, radio, movies and TV.
