Yale Drama School rejected her.
She was a switchboard operator.
She had an affair with a Broadway castmate.
She was an inspiration to Madonna.
She naively allowed Joseph McCarthy to blackmail her into a testimony.
Although she didn't make McCarthy's 'blacklist,' her career suffered a dampening after contact with him.
She was in a less than pleasant relationship with a musician right before her death.
Many have said she was a good person who was cheated many good things in life.

She took ballet and had a taste for classical music.
