    He chose dangerous hobbies.
    He failed in his attempt to move into politics.
    He named all his vehicles 'Bluebird.'
    He was inducted into the International Motorsports Hall of Fame in 1990.
    He was extremely patriotic and painted the Union Jack on all his vehicles.
    He was one of few land speed record holders of his era to die of natural causes.
    He received a knighthood.
