    (June 23, 1940-October 18, 1978)
    Born in Laramie, Wyoming
Raised in parts of Nebraska and Texas
Lucian in ‘The Big Doll House’ and Katherine Wall in ‘Foxy Brown (1974)’
Member of the American Shakespeare Festival (Stratford, Connecticut)
Died in Los Angeles from diabetes complications at age 38
She was born into a theatrical family.
During a stage performance in ‘Antony and Cleopatra’ in Atlanta, she took a fall that broke her hand and forced her out.
Because he wrote the part specifically with her in mind, the writer of Foxy Brown battled the studio to have her cast as Katherine Wall — over their refusal to pay her airfare to Los Angeles.
While others began on daytime television, one of her final roles was on Days of Our Lives.
Her older brother was a renowned Princeton Theological Seminary instructor.
Many of her stage roles were leagues away from her evil archetypes.
While recovering from sudden-onset diabetes in the Philippines, she became inspired by the works of Kahlil Gibran.
A black actress performing in another Atlanta show replaced her as Cleopatra, creating spectacular national press for both of them.
