Why he might be annoying:

He was unable to perform a space walk due to Gemini 8's mission being cut short.
He sat aboard Apollo 9 as he watched James McDivitt and Russell Schweickart tested the lunar module.
He and his crew took along 400 commemorative stamped first day covers to the Moon. They sold them to finance their children's education, greatly upsetting NASA. As punishment he was prohibited from flying in future missions.

Why he might not be annoying:

He and Irvin set up an ALSEP science station on the Moon.
He died at 61 from a heart attack (August 8, 1991).
Along with Irvin, they were the first to televise their lunar lift off (August 2, 1971 - 1:11 P.M. EDT.
Along with Neil Armstrong aboard Gemini 8, they performed the first space docking.
Gemini 8 had a stuck thruster that caused the capsule to roll out of control and looked like he and Neil Armstrong would be the first American fatalities in Space. Using backup thrusters, they were able to regain control of the ship, but the planned missing was cut short from three days to ten hours.
He graduated U.S. Military Academy (1954). He was fifth best of 633.
He earned a masters degree from MIT (1962).
He, along with James Irwin, were the first to use the lunar rover.
He, Eugene Cernan, James Lovell, and John Young are the only three astronauts to travel to the Moon twice.
