    Appeared in episodes of 'Ben Casey,' 'The Big Valley,' 'Star Trek,' Columbo,' 'Dallas' and 'Murder She Wrote'
    At age eight, he set a couch on fire when he hid a cigarette he had secretly been smoking.
    He said, 'My school career was less than a success. I went to 14 or 15 different schools and didn't like any of them.'
    He was married three times, divorced twice.
    In the late 60s, he refused to wear shoes 'unless it's absolutely necessary' and had to borrow a pair from his agent before he could board a plane.
    He said about comparisons with his father, 'He was a fine, marvelous actor who did some great things even at an early stage in his career. On the other hand, everything I've done so far has been pretty lousy.'
    He is fluent in French and German as well as English.
    He won a Theatre World Award for his performances in the off-Broadway plays 'I Knock at the Door' and 'Pictures in the Hallway' (1964).
    He won a Golden Globe Award for most promising male newcomer (1964).
    He said, 'If there's a motto by which I live, it is that I've never regretted anything I've done. Only the things I have not done.'
