    His one hit, 'Blue Suede Shoes,' ended up being identified with Elvis Presley.

    'Blue Suede Shoes' was rock's first across-the-board hit, making the top five of Billboard's Pop, Country and Rhythm and Blues charts simultaneously.
    The Beatles recorded three of his songs.
    George Harrison and Eric Clapton both cited Perkins as an influence on their guitar playing.
    He was married to Valda Crider for 45 years.
