The Resume

Why they might be annoying:

This time, players voted out at Tribal Council were not eliminated from the game right away.
Rather, they were sent into exile, where they would battle other voted-off castaways in a challenge to determine who was out of the game.
Because of this, viewers had to wait until the third episode to see the first elimination.
Redemption Island was just a modified, glorified version of the old Exile Island concept.
Unlike the Pearl Islands cycle, those who got back into the game did not have automatic immunity at the next Tribal Council.
Matt and Andrea, the two who re-entered the game from Redemption Island, were each voted right back out shortly after returning.
When it got down to the Final Five, Redemption Island was no more, and anyone voted out from then on was sent directly to the jury.
They had to put up with Philip bragging about his days as a federal agent.
The merged tribe, Murlonio, was named after a stuffed animal belonging to Amber Mariano, although her husband convinced everyone that the name actually meant ‘from the sea.’
There were no separate challenges strictly for reward this time.
To make room for the Redemption challenges, the reward and immunity challenges every week were consolidated into one.
Some weeks, there was no reward at all, or the reward became part of the Redemption challenge.
This time, the finalists did not do the ‘memorial walk’ to commemorate those who were eliminated before them (at least not on the air).
They let Boston Rob and Russell compete again, thanks to a dare made by Rob at the Heroes vs. Villains reunion.
They went back to making Hidden Immunity idols easier to find.

Why they might not be annoying:

At least Russell didn’t find a Hidden Immunity idol this time.
On Redemption Island, the winner(s) of the elimination challenge would remain there to battle the next person(s) voted off, and the process would repeat itself until someone got back into the game.
Matt, the second person voted out, could have been the first one of the 18 eliminated; he ended up on the jury, and 7th place overall, thanks to Redemption Island.
David proposed to his girlfriend, Carolina from Survivor XVIII, on air at the live reunion show.
Boston Rob the first ever four-time competitor on ‘Survivor,’ finally won it all this time.
