Boxer
    (June 5, 1976- )
    Contestant on ‘The Contender’
Was eliminated in the second round
    Attorney
Nobody wanted to fight him because they thought he wasn’t going to be much of a challenge.
A lot of the fighters lost respect for him because they looked at him as a manipulator.
He would play mind games to get the good fighters to fight each other and leave him with the easiest opponent possible.
He wanted to fight the injured Anthony Bonsante in the second round for the easy victory.
Jesse Brinkley, seeing what Joey was doing, picked him to fight Peter Manfredo, who beat the hell out of him.
He was so upset about Anthony Bonsante picking to fight Brent Cooper instead of Jimmy Lange that he couldn’t room with Anthony anymore and packed up his things and moved out.
While serving as Ahmed Kaddour’s corner man, he didn’t seem to know what to say to Ahmed in between rounds.
He would always complain about injuries instead of just sucking it up and going out there.
He won 3 NCAA tournaments and is a 4-time All-American.
He always performed the best on challenges.
He shocked everybody when he beat Jimmy Lange by unanimous decision, even knocking Jimmy down.
The win was a huge victory, as nobody predicted Joey could beat Jimmy.
He beat Jimmy despite a hamstring injury that limited his mobility.
The win earned him the respect of all the other boxers who doubted him.
Although he lost to Peter Manfredo in the second round, he was the first fighter to lose by split decision.
He got a huge ovation while he left the arena because he showed so much heart in the fight.
Sylvester Stallone called him the ‘heart and soul’ of the competition.
When paramedics came to take him to the hospital after getting beat by Peter, he refused to be taken out on a stretcher and walked out despite the pain.
He’s smart enough to know that boxing is more mental than physical.
While having the lead during one of the individual challenges, he stopped and let Peter win the challenge and also a brand new car.
His father, a Marine who returned from Afghanistan, gave him huge inspiration in the ring.
He was the first ‘Contender’ to sign an endorsement deal.
